Sea Scouts sail digitally with NV Charts

– June 29, 2025 –

The Sea Scouts groups of ZAS Antwerp are based near the Scheldt on the Left Bank. Every year they set off in all directions but mainly towards the Netherlands with their boats. They explore the Scheldt estuary to the smallest corners and the larger boats even go as far as Amsterdam.

They have been using NV Charts’ water charts for several years. These charts can be consulted both on paper and digitally. The charts have to be regularly updated to reflect changes in the fairways. All this is a big chunk of the budget the sea scouts spend on their water trips.

NV Charts just met them in this regard. They donated five double sets of charts for use with the various sea scout groups.

Some members of the Sea Scouts groups accepted the NV Charts cards.

These thriving sea scouts and guides are based near the ferry to the centre of Antwerp. The hundreds of boys and girls find favour in various groups; they are:
1st Georges de Hasque group
2nd Corneel Mayné group
9th Sus Antigoon group
-13th St George group
Akazee group – for all children with or without disabilities!

Sailing on the Scheldt is a challenge for everyone. Also for sea scouts and guides. That is why they have good relations with official bodies that manage the waterways, which also regularly provide them with the necessary information for safe and pleasant navigation.

NV Charts

This publisher of water charts for sea and inland waterways has been in business for many years. When they expanded their activities to Western Europe, the Dutch and Belgian waterways in particular received their attention.

The chart sets donated to the sea scouts are Nederland-nl4-Rijn-Maas-Delta and Nederland-nl5-Ooster-Westerschelde. The latter also covers the Scheldt to Antwerp and the Belgian coast. With the NV-Charts app, these charts can also be accessed digitally. Updates are also available for this so that one can always consult recent maps.
